A well-known expert on the history of universities and education, Notker Hammerstein has published, among other things, Jus und Historie (1972), and Antisemitismus und deutsche Universitäten (1995). He is currently working on the history of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft.

Gerald D. Feldman is currently the Karl W. Deutsch Guest Professor at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung. His books include The Great Disorder. Politics, Economics and Society in the German Inflation, 1914-1924 (1993), and a biography of Hugo Stinnes (1998). At present he is working on a study of the Allianz Insurance Company in the National Socialist period.
